June is divot awareness month at KGC:
 
Please repair your divots!
 
Always carry a sandbag or approved sand bottle
(Powerade bottles are not allowed as sand bottles)
A sandbag is compulsory at all golf courses.
 
 
 
 
Flamingo Casino meat and slots 9er
 
Luchmen Poonawasy took the Flamingo Casino Meat and Slots Niner on Friday afternoon, his score 21individual stableford points.
Ronnie Engelbrecht, Dicky Thomas, Lyle Mills and Shane Arthur were the remaining prize winners.
However, whoever the prize winners ‘High Fives’ were reserved solely for Peter Salo. 
 
 
Spur Junior Challenge:
 
This week it was Christiaan Voight’s turn to claim the double in the Spur Junior Challenge, he returned 19 individual points and a gross 39.
N Delport and Jacky Schoeman were second and third in the IPS.
 
The two semi-final matches in the Junior Club Matchplay Championships were played this week. In the first Dean Schonegevel beat Hermus Venter 2 and 1 and in the second Keanan Aysen beat Lyle Mills 4 and 3.
 
Dean Schonegevel will take on Keanan Aysen, the 2013 Junior Strokeplay Champion, in a particularly keen final.  
 
 
 
        
Wednesday IPS:
Gary Hepburne was four ahead of the field in Wednesday’s IPS sponsored by Leons House of Liquor, his score 40 points.
 
Marnus Snyman was third on 36 with Siewert Wiid third on 35 n a count out.
 
Diamond Niner:
Ant Crozier, on 21 points, topped the field in the Thursday Diamond Niner.
 
Machiel Cronje, Alwyn Botes and
Braam Botes were second, third and fourth respectively.

Kimberley Father and Son Tournament

 
 
Seniors:
 
Last weekend the Northern Cape Seniors played their Free State counterparts in their annual away leg of the Blacklaws Cup.
 
A good contingent, 22 players, rose to and early for the occasion giving their long time opponents a run for their money. Captain and spokesman, Machiel Cronje, confirmed that the score, a13 – 9 loss, was no reflection of just how close the Northern Cape Seniors came to regaining the not easily gained trophy.

The three respective division winners in the Men’s section were Deon Kruis (42), Faan Rheeder (41) and Cat Smith (40)
 
The runners up were Pieter Botes (42), Mietie Aysen (39) and Trevor de Reuck (39). Nico Ross (39), Johnny Cloete (39) and Hugh McGibbon (38) were each placed third.
 
 
The three division winners in the Ladies’ Section were Susan Ferreira (34), Norma Potgieter (35) and Jacky Schoeman (32).
 
The Runners up were Helena Janse (32), Susan Alexander (31) and Bea Venter (32). Helena de Kock and Sophia Horn were third in the B and the C divisions.
 
The Kimberley Golf Club will host the Northern Cape Regional Final on Saturday 17 August.
