Oblivious to the gusty conditions Leon van Wyk and Leon Blom were a storm on their own as they swept the field aside in Saturday’s Senior Presidents Golf Day. A net 67 and net 66 together with a near perfect show of dovetailing saw them post a record 51 betterball points. Leon van Wyk carded a personal best one over par 73 gross.  
Harry Welham and Derek Potgieter were second on 45 points with Gavin Williams and Cedric Bredenkamp third on 44 points. The final prize winners each returned 43 points. The count out deemed Ronnie Engelbrecht and Krish Moodaley fourth and Shane Arthur and Neil Langley fifth.

Played from a scramble drive 50 points was the top score in Friday’s Brocor Corporate Golf Day. A count out saw Helgard Hansen and Willie Vermeulen the winners and Fareez Alexander and Bernie Turton the runners up. Father and son combination, Bertus and Jaco Theron, were third on 48 points in a count from Willie Delport and Dalina Schoeman.

Ricardo Joseph was a clear winner in the Sun Flamingo Meat and Slots Niner on Friday, his score 22 points. Andries Kori and Kumar Anoop were second and third on 19 points with Helena Janse fourth on 18 points and Darian Fortune the final prize winner on 17 points.

Nico Ross carded a level par gross 36 in Thursday’s KWV PowerPlay Niner.  A successful six pointer on the 15th saw him return an unmatched 23 points. OJ Maimane, who posted a six pointer on the 13th, was second on 18 points. Three players returned 17 points, Ivan Coetzee by virtue of his 6 pointer on the 12th, winning the count out.      

Wednesday’s Konica Minolta Business League outing saw team Cat Security represented by Dalina Schoeman and Joanie Herselman the betterball winners on 45 points. Momentum’s Paul Marais and John Palm were the runners up on 44 points on a count out from the Halfway House Hotel represented by Mike Doherty and Mike Vigne. Extraordinary scores led the individual section. A personal best by Morne Coertzen saw him return the day’s best 43 individual stableford points. Runner up Mike Vigne was just a single point behind on 42 points. Johan Herselman was third on 38 points.

16, 17, 18 and 10, 11 and 9 were designated holes for the Tuesday Super Six Golf Tournament sponsored by Cleveland Golf. The winner, Darian Fortune, was just one over par through the short course for an aggregate 14 points. Peter Salo and Neil Langley were second and third, both on 13 points.


This week the KGC offers the Super Six Golf Tournament sponsored by Cleveland on Tuesday, the Darsha Insurance Brokers IPS on Wednesday, the Spur Junior Challenge and the KWV PowerPlay Niner on Thursday and the Sun Flamingo Niner along with the CTCS draw on Friday. At the weekend St Albans Church host their annual Saturday Golf Fundraiser. On Sunday it is the first round of the second half of the Sealing Solutions League. The format is individual matchplay.
